Stiftsgården in Skellefteå has been run since 1964 as a foundation, through the Stiftelsen Luleå stifts Stiftsgård i Skellefteå foundation. Since 2025, the Church of Sweden in Skellefteå has leased the facility for, among other things, youth and confirmand activities, a diaconal rights reception, and various joint parish projects. Since 2026, Stiftsgården has also housed the pastorate office, providing administrative support functions for the five parishes that make up Skellefteå pastorate.

In recent years, the financial sustainability of the operation has weakened, with the effects of the pandemic being a major contributing factor. This has meant that new approaches have had to be sought so that the centre can continue to be a meeting place for people. Skellefteå pastorate and the Stiftelsen Luleå stifts Stiftsgård foundation are now working towards a joint new initiative in which the Church of Sweden in Skellefteå will run activities at the centre, which will also remain open to the public.
