On the parish grounds in Nordmaling, in addition to the church, you will also find Catharinakapellet. The chapel, which takes its name from a vicar's wife who was active in Nordmaling during the first half of the 19th century, was built in 1979 and replaced the old funeral chapel by the church, which today houses the church museum.
The chapel is located right on the edge of Nordmaling's new cemetery and is used regularly for funerals. However, it has also come to serve as the parish's "small church" and a venue for weekly services as well as weddings and baptisms. During the coldest months of the year, all services move from Nordmaling church to Catharinakapellet.
The chapel seats 70 people, and the absence of stairs makes the premises easily accessible for everyone. Parking is available directly adjacent to the chapel.
It is possible to hold civil funerals in Catharinakapellet, as it contains no fixed Christian symbols.
