Bolidens kyrka, consecrated on the first Sunday of Advent 1960, serves the mining community of Boliden in northern Sweden. Built to a design by Peter Celsing, it was considered strikingly unusual for a Swedish parish church of its time.

Boliden grew up entirely around its mine, with the settlement laid out from the late 1920s by architects John Åkerlund and Tage William-Olsson. An earlier wooden chapel, built in 1930 and originally owned by the EFS mission society before the parish acquired it in 1952, served the community until it was demolished in 1969, making way for the present church.

The current building was designed by Peter Celsing, an architect noted for his sculptural, modern approach to church design. At Boliden he brought together the simplicity of early Gothic architecture with the clean lines of 1960s modernism, in a style often described as brutalist. The plain, whitewashed exterior with its saddle roof gives little hint of the more complex, asymmetrical interior, which includes an integrated porch set to one side rather than centrally placed.

Inside, the font stands unusually in the middle of the nave, among the pews, rather than near the entrance or chancel as is more traditional. It is carved from a square block of white marble. A crucifix by Lorentz Hartman, acquired in 1972, hangs between the chancel and the main body of the church. The chancel decoration and colour scheme were created by Pär Andersson.

The organ was built by Åkerman & Lund Orgelbyggeri and dates from the same period as the church itself, making it contemporary with Celsing's building throughout.
