The timber chapel was built to designs by architect Bo Grefberg and was consecrated in the summer of 1957 by Bishop Ivar Hylander. The building has a timber frame and façades clad with white-painted horizontal wooden panelling.
The hipped saddle roof was originally covered with tarred wooden shingles, but is now covered with sheet metal. The walls and ceiling of the church interior are clad with untreated wooden panelling. The floor is covered with boards.
To the west of the chapel stands a free-standing bell tower designed by the architect. A church bell was donated by King Gustaf VI Adolf.
The chapel is located two kilometres west of Västerfjället.
