Västra Husby kyrka stands in Västra Husby, near Söderköping in Östergötland, part of Östra Ryds parish within the Diocese of Linköping. Its calm, light-filled interior reflects a dramatic rebuilding after fire, and today the church is particularly valued as a setting for music.

A church has stood on this site since the 1100s, though the present building dates from 1816–1817, with its formal consecration following in 1820. The medieval tower from the earlier church was retained and later fitted with a lantern, giving the building a visible link to its older origins even after later rebuilding.

On 2 March 1977 the church was severely damaged by fire. Only the outer walls survived, and the tower was badly harmed. Fortunately, many of the church's movable fittings had already been removed ahead of a planned major renovation, so much of the historic furnishings escaped destruction. The building was restored using the surviving walls and was ready for reconsecration in May 1979.

The fire destroyed the church's organ, a 19th-century instrument built by Carl Hanner of Linköping in 1844, which had itself replaced an earlier 17th-century organ and had later been rebuilt in the 1930s. Following the rebuilding, a new mechanical organ was installed in 1979 by the Hammarberg workshop of Gothenburg, positioned in the chancel and including a small carillon among its features.

Since the 1979 reconsecration, the church interior has been adorned with mosaics by the Swedish artist Bengt Olof Kälde, adding a distinctive modern artistic layer to a building otherwise shaped by loss and careful restoration. Visitors are also greeted by a depiction of a blessing Christ within the church, a feature noted as one of the more memorable images encountered on entering the modern worship space.
