Vadensjö kyrka stands high on Rönneberga backar in Skåne, with sweeping views over farmland towards Landskrona, the Öresund and, on clear days, the Öresund Bridge. Its hilltop position has shaped both its history and its distinctive appearance.

The church has origins in the 1100s and 1200s, when the oldest parts of the nave walls and chancel were built in Romanesque style. Little of that original fabric survives, however, since the building was badly damaged during the Scanian Wars of 1676–1679: two gables collapsed and the walls were left with gaping holes, while furnishings including the pulpit, altarpiece, font, confessional and candlesticks were all lost.

Rebuilt after the wars, the church needed further restoration by the mid-1800s. Cathedral architect Carl Georg Brunius carried this out in 1849–1850, giving the church a low tower and much of its present form. A later renovation in 1899 by Brunius's successor, Henrik Sjöström, replaced this with the taller tower seen today.

The exposed hilltop setting has repeatedly left the church vulnerable to storms, with serious damage recorded in the late 1700s and in 1825. During a major exterior renovation in 2004–2005 the tower was again damaged by storm, and had to be rebuilt.

Inside, the altar, altar rail and pews date from 1899, made by a joinery workshop in Landskrona. The altarpiece, painted by Johan Zacharias Blackstadius in 1879, depicts Christ blessing the children. A chancel carpet designed by the textile artist Barbro Nilsson and woven at Märta Måås-Fjetterström's workshop in Båstad was given to the church by the parish sewing circle in 1964.

The churchyard is laid out in the traditional Scanian style, divided into sections by neatly clipped box hedges, a design dating from the same 1850s restoration that reshaped the church itself.
