Turinge kyrka is a parish church near Nykvarn, between Södertälje and Strängnäs, whose oldest parts date back to the 1100s. It is best known for the striking baroque burial chapel built by the soldier-engineer Erik Dahlberg, who is buried within it.

The church began as a small Romanesque building in the twelfth century. A west tower and sacristy were added in the 1200s, the nave was lengthened in the 1300s, and a porch followed in the 1400s. In July 1802 lightning struck and destroyed the tower; its replacement, topped with the present copper-clad spire, was completed by 1805. Look closely and you can see that the tower and its spire sit slightly twisted against one another, a quirk of the rebuilding.

The church's most celebrated feature is the baroque burial chapel designed in the 1680s by Erik Dahlberg, soldier, diplomat and illustrator of the great topographical work Suecia antiqua et hodierna. Dahlberg had the chapel built as his own resting place, and he is buried there. It is regarded as one of the foremost baroque monuments in Sweden.

In the porch stands the Turinge stone, a runestone from the eleventh century that was uncovered in the east wall during construction of the chancel. It offers a tangible link to the site's long use, predating the medieval church itself.

Other furnishings include a granite font dating from the late 1200s and a pulpit installed in 1891. The church's organ has a layered history: an instrument by Olof Schwan was built in 1794, replaced in 1929 by an organ from Olof Hammarberg, and rebuilt again in 1968 by Åkerman & Lund, whose mechanical organ retains the façade from the 1794 instrument.

The churchyard, or kyrkbacke, with its cottages and outbuildings dating from the 1700s and 1800s, is considered one of the best preserved in Södermanland, giving visitors a sense of the wider historic setting beyond the church itself.
