Slättåkra kyrka is a medieval parish church in the village of Slättåkra, Halmstad municipality, in the province of Halland. It belongs to Slättåkra-Kvibille parish within the Diocese of Gothenburg, and stands out for its richly painted ceiling and long history of restoration.

The original church was built in the Romanesque style during the 1100s or 1200s, with a nave, chancel and a semicircular apse - a plan still traceable in the whitewashed stone building seen today. The tower, as wide as the nave itself, dates from 1776, when the church also underwent wider alterations. Its upper section is built of timber, with a sheet-metal-clad lower spire rising to an octagonal lantern covered in black wooden shingles and topped by a metal spire and weathercock.

A sacristy was added on the north side in 1936, coinciding with a substantial interior restoration led by Harald Wadsjö. During this work the triumphal arch, which had been removed in 1776, was rebuilt, restoring something closer to the church's earlier medieval proportions.

One of the most memorable features is the painted vaulted ceiling, completed in 1793, with decoration added in 1801 by Peter Hallberg of Halmstad on the ceiling and gallery front. These paintings were later covered over, probably between 1874 and 1876, before being uncovered again in 1935-1936 by conservator Erik Sköld and artist Arvid Carlsson - a reminder of how fashions in church interiors have shifted back and forth over the centuries.

Among the furnishings, look out for the pulpit of 1634, decorated with contemporary paintings of the four evangelists, and a Renaissance-style altarpiece dating from the late 1500s. A wooden font from the first half of the 1700s is no longer in the church but held at Halmstad Museum. The triumphal crucifix is considerably older, dating from the 1200s. A nineteenth-century painting of Christ by Wilhelmina Lagerholm, based on Bertel Thorvaldsen's famous statue, served as the church's altarpiece for around sixty years; it was later restored and rehung on the south wall in 2021.

The church has had several organs over the years, the first built in 1803, with replacements and rebuilds following in 1866, 1904 and finally 1962, when the present instrument was built by Olof Hammarberg's workshop in Gothenburg, incorporating some pipework salvaged from earlier organs.
