Rogberga kyrka stands on an ancient church site in Rogberga, part of Rogberga-Öggestorps församling in Jönköping county. The present building, consecrated in the 1860s, replaced a medieval church that had stood on the same ground for centuries.

The site is believed to have been a settlement centre since Viking times, supported by archaeological finds made east of the church at Bogla in 2002 and 2003, including early Christian graves. A runestone standing in front of the church, commemorating a man named Val, dates from the late Viking Age, though it no longer stands in its original position.

A medieval stone church, thought to have succeeded an earlier wooden stave church, occupied a spot slightly south of today's building. It suffered repeatedly at the hands of Danish troops during the Nordic Seven Years' War of 1567 and again in 1612, and was further damaged by an accidental fire in 1642. Rebuilt with contributions from neighbouring parishes, it continued in use until it was demolished in 1867 to make way for the present church.

The idea of a new church was first raised by the provost David Sjöström, who felt the old building had become too small for the parish. Sources differ slightly on the sequence of events: a decision to build was taken in 1854, though outbreaks of cholera and railway construction works are said to have delayed matters, and building work did not begin until 1865. The new church was completed using stone quarried from the Stora Västansjö estate and brick from the Riddersberg brickworks for its tower. Accounts vary on the exact consecration date, with one source citing September 1868 under Bishop Henrik Gustaf Hultman and another giving August 1869; both agree the church was built in an Empire style, with a long, whitewashed nave ending in a rounded chancel to the east, and a brick west tower topped by an octagonal lantern and spire.

Heating was absent for the church's first decades, with iron stoves installed only in the 1890s, followed by later systems including, more recently, ground-source heating. The building has undergone several renovations, notably in 1937 and again in 2000.

The altarpiece depicting the Resurrection, painted by professor Mårten Winge (also spelled Vinge in some sources) for the 1869 consecration, is considered the church's finest feature. Older furnishings once set aside from the previous church have since been returned to use, including a carved altarpiece from 1668 (itself said to be a copy of a work in Linköping Cathedral), a seventeenth-century crucifix, and a pulpit made in 1660 by Johannes Vern of Jönköping, later fitted with figures of Christ and the apostles. The mid-seventeenth-century font, made of oak and pine, spent many years in the Jönköping County Museum before being returned to the church. A medieval madonna figure once belonging to the church is now held at the same museum.

The three church bells span several centuries: the largest was cast in 1680, the smallest in 1702, and the middle bell, cast originally in 1651, has been recast more than once, most recently in 1830. The current organ, built by A. Magnusson's Orgelbyggeri in 1937, incorporates the case from an eighteenth-century instrument, and a separate choir organ was installed in 1995.
