Össjö kyrka stands on a hill in the village of Össjö, some 12 kilometres east of Ängelholm in Skåne, and forms part of the Sankta Thora pilgrim route. It belongs to Munka Ljungby parish in the Diocese of Lund.

The oldest parts of the church date from the latter part of the 1100s, when it was built in Romanesque style with a nave, a narrower chancel and a semicircular apse to the east. A tower was added later, and during the later Middle Ages a spacious porch was built against the south wall of the nave.

A major restoration in 1865 changed the building considerably: the church was extended eastward, giving it the three-sided chancel seen today, the tower was partly rebuilt, the sacristy was demolished and the medieval south porch removed. A handsome round-arched portal was relocated to form the new entrance, and the church was reconsecrated in 1866. A further large-scale renovation in 2004–2005 restored older colour schemes, including the blue chancel ceiling, enlarged the chancel area, created small gathering rooms beneath the gallery, and introduced ground-source heating.

Among the fittings, the finely carved sandstone font dates from the second half of the 1100s and is attributed to the so-called Mörarp Master; its brass basin is from the 1600s. A pulpit made by Johan Ullberg is dated 1756, and an earlier altarpiece by the same craftsman, depicting the Last Supper and acquired in 1751, still hangs on the north wall after being replaced as the altarpiece in 1865. A gilded silver communion set survives from the period of Danish rule, along with a matching paten.

Since 1865 the chancel has held a copy of Bertel Thorvaldsen's Christ statue, echoing the well-known original in Copenhagen. A medieval triumphal crucifix that once hung in the church's original chancel arch is now kept at the Historical Museum of Lund University rather than in the church itself. The two bells in the tower are notably old: the larger is inscribed with the date 1769, while the smaller bears the date 1506.

One local source associated with the church's pilgrim-route material also describes a reliquary said, according to legend, to contain remains attributed to Saint Ursula, and a hand-woven chancel rug (rölakan) depicting the local Össjö landscape; these details have not been independently verified. The present mechanical organ was built in 1901 by Salomon Molander & Co of Gothenburg and was restored in 1987; it replaced an earlier, smaller instrument installed in 1827.
