Nykroppa kyrka was built between 1882 and 1884 to designs by the builder Carl Lundmark.

The expansion of the iron industry during the 17th century and the establishment of the Nykroppa ironworks provided the basis for a separate parish, and in 1642 Kroppa parish was separated from Färnebo. A wooden church was built that same year, which according to tradition was preceded by a chapel church. However, the church burned to the ground following a lightning strike in 1881. The present Renaissance-inspired cruciform church, situated a short distance south of the site of the burnt-down church, was built in 1884 to designs by the builder Carl Lundmark. The church, which consists of a rectangular nave, an apsidal chancel, two transept arms and a west tower, is the only one in the county and probably one of the few church buildings in the country to have been partly built using sinner stone. Northeast of the church stands a white-plastered mortuary built in 1924 as a burial chapel.
