Marums kyrka is a small stone church east of Ardala in the Skara diocese, ranking among the oldest churches in the region. Built in the early 1100s, it retains medieval fabric beneath later alterations, including an 18th-century extension and a 19th-century sacristy.

The church's walls, built of sandstone ashlar, together with its south and west portals, date from the early 12th century. Dendrochronological analysis of the roof timbers in 1990 dated them to around 1114–1117, and two carved boards with animal ornamentation found in the building fit with this early date. Excavations in the 1930s revealed that the church originally had a narrow, straight-ended chancel to the east, since replaced.

A fragment of a 12th-century wall painting depicting an angel survives on the south wall of the nave, though it was overpainted in the 15th century. Later, during a major rebuilding of 1783–1785, the old chancel was demolished and the church extended eastward; the surviving decorative paintings of drapery, a fiddler and a devil may date from around this period, though this is uncertain. In 1878 the interior was painted white, obscuring all such decoration until restoration work in 1932–1933 sought to recover the church's medieval character, reinstating rounded window openings, a new porch, and conserving the remaining wall paintings.

Among the furnishings, the font is a notable survival from the 1100s, carved with acanthus leaves and two dragons flanking a dove. A seated wooden Madonna figure from the 14th century, about 64 centimetres tall, stands in a cabinet of later construction; it was restored in the 1950s. The Baroque altarpiece dates from 1698 and survives in part, having been conserved and given a new base in the 1930s, along with two accompanying evangelist figures from the same period.

The church holds two medieval bells, both uncrossed by any inscription. The larger is of a common late-medieval type, while the smaller, with its distinctive beehive shape, is thought to date from the 1100s and is one of only a few such bells surviving in Sweden; the bell frame supporting it also appears to be of considerable age.

Outside in the churchyard stands a late-medieval Gothic window opening, a relic detached from the building itself. The timber bell tower at the west end was erected in the early 1700s, likely reusing an older freestanding bell-frame moved to this position.
