Lindärva kyrka is the oldest and smallest church in Sävare parish, a Romanesque building raised in the later 1100s from roughly dressed stone. Its intimate, ancient character remains remarkably intact, making it a rewarding stop for anyone interested in medieval Västergötland.

The church consists of a rectangular nave with a narrower, straight-ended chancel and a west tower, all built in shell-wall technique from dressed sandstone with broad, smoothed-out mortar joints. The tower rises in three stages, each slightly recessed. Unusually, the original south doorway sat nearer the middle of the nave's south wall rather than the more typical position near the south-west corner, a feature associated with Anglo-Saxon church planning. Together with details of the tower's construction, this suggests influences predating the Norman currents that reached Västergötland, possibly before 1080 - though this dating rests on architectural comparison rather than documentary evidence.

Inside, brick cross-vaults were added over the nave in the 1400s and decorated with paintings in a style linked to the well-known medieval church painter Amund. Long hidden under limewash, they were rediscovered and restored in 1916. In the nave only the ornamental decoration survives, but each vault cell in the chancel carries figurative scenes, including a Christ in majesty, the blessed being received into paradise, and Saint Michael.

The churchyard holds two limestone grave-slab sculptures from the early Middle Ages, along with the two gable ends of a Romanesque grave monument whose central section is missing. From the same period comes the iron-bound plank door.

Several medieval wooden sculptures survive inside, including a carved lime-wood head of Christ with a woven thorn crown, an object that may have served as a portable altar, a rectangular relief panel carved in one piece with a moulded frame, and two standing figures - a woman in cloak and headdress, and a male figure possibly representing Saint John. The altar itself is also medieval, while the altarpiece, pulpit and font are simpler early-1700s baroque work.

The church has two late-medieval bells. The smaller carries a pilgrim badge showing Bishop Brynolf and a Latin inscription naming Saint Peter as the church's patron, dated to the early 1500s; the larger, cast by Busse Jacobsson, bears a finely lettered inscription dedicating it to Saint Peter and Saint John, dated 1516. The present organ, built in 1990 with six stops, replaced an earlier 1954 instrument that was sold on and moved to another church.
