Katrineholms kyrka, the parish church of Katrineholmsbygdens församling, stands at the heart of the town it grew up alongside. Built when Katrineholm itself was founded, it is notable for facing south towards the railway station rather than following the traditional westward orientation.

The church was built between 1900 and 1902 to designs by the architect Carl Flodin, and was consecrated on 11 January 1903 by Bishop Uddo Lechard Ullman. The decision to build a new church had been taken by the parish council of Stora Malms församling in 1895, reflecting the rapid growth of the new railway town.

Constructed of brick in the neo-Gothic style on a granite plinth, the church has a nave running north to south, with a polygonal chancel at the northern end and a tower with the main entrance to the south. The tower roof and spire are clad in copper, while the rest of the roof is covered in slate; the exterior walls are rendered white, with the brickwork left exposed in the string courses and window surrounds. This unusual orientation, facing the station rather than the customary west end, is one of the church's most distinctive features.

Inside, the chancel windows hold stained glass depicting Christ flanked by Saint Peter, shown with his key, and Saint Paul, shown with his sword. The font, carved from Kolmården marble, dates from 1902, close to the time of the church's completion, while the pulpit was made later, in 1926. A small crucifix on the altar is the work of Albin Helldén.

The church's organ has been rebuilt more than once: the original instrument, built in 1904 by A. E. Setterquist & Son, had twelve stops across two manuals, and was replaced in 1995 by a larger 28-stop organ built by Walter Thür Orgelbyggen.
