Klosters kyrka, in the heart of Eskilstuna beside the river Eskilstunaån, was consecrated on 9 May 1929. Popularly known simply as Kloster, it is the largest and second-oldest church of St John's parish (S:t Johannes församling), and remains a striking landmark of the town.

The church was built after plans by the architect Otar Hökerberg, following a decision taken at an extraordinary parish meeting in 1924 to erect a new church in the Norr district of Eskilstuna. Constructed of brick from the Lina brickworks in Södertälje under builder Olof Neuman, it stands as a substantial red-brick, twin-towered building with copper-clad tower helmets, its interior finished in exposed brick with ribbed vaulting. The nave measures roughly 70 metres long and 20 metres wide, with vaults rising to about 22 metres and a roof ridge some 31 metres above ground; the towers reach around 62 metres.

The most notable single object is the altarpiece, signed and dated 1600, depicting the Adoration of the Shepherds. It is attributed to the Flemish master Martin de Vos and was given to the church as a gift from Baroness Elsie Åkerlund. Flanking the altar are two gilded plaster figures representing Love and Faith by the sculptor Carl Fagerberg, who also modelled the triumphal crucifix, later carved in wood by Albert Helldén. The whole altar setting, along with the pulpit, organ case, pews and other woodwork, was produced by the Nordiska Kompaniet workshops in Nyköping to Hökerberg's designs, in a greyish marbled finish typical of early twentieth-century Baroque revival taste.```
