The chapel was built to designs by the architect Jan Thurfjell and was consecrated on 26 March 1961. It stands within Jokkmokk parish, in the Diocese of Luleå, serving the small community of Kåbdalis.
Constructed of wood, the chapel has a steep sheet-metal-clad gabled roof and exterior walls finished with white-painted timber panelling, giving it a simple, functional appearance typical of rural Swedish chapels of the period.
Inside, the walls are lined with pale grey masonite and the ceiling, with its broken or angled profile, is clad in white masonite boards. On the chancel wall is a painting by Ingrid Jövinger, providing the main decorative focus of an otherwise plain interior.
A freestanding bell tower stands near the chapel; the bell itself is said to have been purchased as early as 1950, some years before the chapel was completed and consecrated, suggesting the bell may have been acquired in anticipation of the building's construction.
