Gårdstånga kyrka is a medieval church set beside the winding Kävlingeån river in the Skåne countryside. Dating from the 1100s, it is best known for its richly carved wooden furnishings by the master carver Jakob Kremberg, added during the early 1600s.

The church was built during the 1100s and 1200s, with vaulted ceilings added in the 1400s. In 1622 a burial chapel was added to the north side on the initiative of Anna Brahe, in memory of her late husband Steen Maltesen Sehested, and the tower also dates from this period.

A thorough restoration took place in 1888–89, when the tower received its present stepped gables and the artist Svante Thulin painted decorative work on the walls and vaults, similar in style to work he carried out in Lund Cathedral.

The church's most notable feature is its set of Renaissance furnishings, created between 1609 and 1628 by Jacob Kremberg. He was commissioned in 1609 to make a pulpit and altarpiece, delivered in 1612, and surviving church records suggest he personally oversaw their installation. Kremberg went on to produce the pew fittings, a canopied font and the church gallery, and in 1622 he made a rood screen to separate the new burial chapel from the rest of the church.

Much of the cost of these carvings was met by Anna Brahe, owner of the Viderup estate. It has been suggested that the extensive furnishings were commissioned partly in memory of her husband, and partly as an expression of her own religious devotion, though this remains a matter of interpretation rather than established fact.

The present organ was built in 1956 by Wilhelm Hemmersam of Copenhagen, replacing an 1889 instrument by Rasmus Nilsson of Malmö; it was later modified and restored. Two runic stones, known as Gårdstångastenen 2 and 3, were found built into the church wall and are of interest to visitors curious about the site's earlier history.
