Kullavikskyrkan stands at the northern edge of Kullavik's centre, near Gothenburg. Consecrated in 1983, this modern timber church is known for its striking blue-lit chancel, its playground and its own Café Bryggan, offering visitors a warm and welcoming space.

Designed by architect Arne Nygård, Kullavikskyrkan was consecrated on the Feast of the Annunciation in 1983. The building rests on a concrete base with brown-painted timber cladding and a red tiled roof. Its most distinctive feature is the sky-blue chancel, lit from above, a colour traditionally associated with Mary; there was reportedly early discussion about naming the church Mariakyrkan instead. At the centre of this blue field hangs a triumphal crucifix showing Christ not as suffering on the cross but risen, arms outstretched in blessing.

The altar, of thick granite carved with five crosses symbolising Christ's wounds, forms the focus of worship, with a plain white altar cloth recalling the linen wrappings of the empty tomb. Nearby, the pulpit (ambo), made on Gotland, bears a carved fish, an early Christian symbol with roots in biblical stories of miraculous catches and provision.

Light plays a significant role throughout the building. An angel window above the entrance was created by glass artist Erland Forsberg and inaugurated in December 2007. A separate set of south-facing windows, also by Forsberg, depict four scenes from Mary's story: the Annunciation, her meeting with Elizabeth, the Nativity, and the presentation in the Temple with Simeon. A carved wooden crucifix and statue of Mary holding the infant Jesus, both by artist Eva Spångberg, complete the figurative artwork; the infant is shown holding an orb, as a king. A candle-bearer in the form of a sailing ship, made at a workshop in Kungsbacka, allows visitors to light candles for prayer.//The organ was built by Tostareds Kyrkorgelfabrik.//The church seats around 150, with folding walls allowing the space to open into the entrance hall for larger gatherings. A 2003 extension, designed by Christer Svensson of C&S arkitekter, added a choir gallery, entrance hall and further rooms, integrated closely with the original 1983 building. A charming, if unverifiable, story recounts a weathercock known as the Kullavik rooster disappearing in 2004 and reappearing two years later outside the entrance with a letter describing its travels around the world.

Since 2015 Kullavik has formed its own parish within Särö pastorat, alongside Vallda and Släp; before then it belonged to Släp parish.
