Tuve kyrka is an old and picturesque church dating from the 12th century, long popular for baptisms, weddings and funerals. It is one of five churches in the Tuve-Säve parish, near Gothenburg, and one of the diocese's better-known wedding churches.

The church is built of grey stone in Romanesque style, with a rectangular nave and a narrower, straight-ended chancel to the east — both thought to date from the 1100s, making them the oldest parts of the building. A porch was added in the west in 1745, and a sacristy on the north side of the chancel as late as 1953. At some point after 1700 the triumphal arch was removed, buttresses were added to the nave, and a timber vault was installed, giving the interior much of its present character from the 18th century.

The painted ceiling, in rococo style, is believed to date from the second half of the 1700s, and the decoration on the gallery front, featuring urns and cartouches with rose motifs, is thought to be from the same period. These paintings, along with the pulpit and gallery front, were restored and added to by the artist Albert Eldh in 1923, though some of his overpainting was later removed during a further restoration in 1959.

Among the church's furnishings, the font bowl, carved from amphibolite, is the oldest object in the church, dating from the 1100s. An octagonal brass baptismal dish was added in the 1600s, while the current baptismal jug dates from 1967. The altarpiece, from the 1700s, depicts the Last Supper, and the pulpit, from the 1600s, carries painted figures of Peter and the Evangelists added in the early 1700s, along with an older hourglass with four chambers. A votive ship dating from 1801 and an iron-bound stocks for the poor, from the 1700s, can also be seen in the porch.

South-west of the church stands a freestanding, octagonal, cone-shaped bell tower, which took its current wooden-clad form in 1832, though the timber frame suggests it may be considerably older; it holds a bell cast in 1770. The churchyard, thought to be roughly as old as the church itself, is enclosed by a dry stone wall with iron gates, and is documented from 1871, having been extended in 1934 and 1976.

The organ case, dating from an 1898 instrument, was designed by the architect Ragnar Östberg; the mechanical organ within it was built in 1995.
