Husie kyrka stands on high ground on the eastern edge of Malmö, its whitewashed walls a familiar landmark. Serving Husie parish, it has been a place of worship since medieval times and remains popular for baptisms, weddings and funerals.

The present church was built between 1855 and 1857 to designs by the noted architect Carl Georg Brunius, replacing a medieval predecessor whose origins are thought to reach back to the eleventh or twelfth century. The tower, dating from the early sixteenth century, was retained from that earlier building and originally served as a porch before being raised into a tower with stepped gables. Interestingly, the tower now stands to the west, whereas the old church's tower had stood to the north, showing that the new building was not placed on exactly the same footprint as its predecessor.

Although the church appears today as an archetypal whitewashed Scandinavian church, this was not always the case. When first built it displayed bare yellow brick in its gable ends and window surrounds, and it was only after a restoration in 1937 that the exterior was rendered and limewashed white. The tower itself is built of red brick and roofed in copper, while the nave and transepts are covered with tile.

A thorough internal restoration took place in 1974–75 under the direction of cathedral architect Eiler Graebe and architect Lennart Strömbeck. The chancel was opened up, the earlier altarpiece removed, and a simple brick altar installed beneath a painted chancel window. From this period also date the sacristy, a font in sandstone by the artist Stig Ryberg, and stained glass by Erik Olson of the Halmstad Group, which forms the backdrop to the altar.
