Vessige kyrka was built between 1856 and 1859, partly to designs by Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander.

History

Today's church was built of whitewashed granite between 1856 and 1859 by master builders from Sandhults socken, partly to designs by Fredrik Wilhelm Scholander. The building consists of a rectangular nave with a somewhat narrower and lower, semicircularly finished chancel to the east, and a tower to the west. The church was built in the neoclassical style typical of its time, and has round-arched window openings and a lunette window above the door in the south portal. The tall tower is crowned by a dome with an open lantern. The sacristy is located behind the altar. The church was restored in 1906 and 1929.

The church interior is whitewashed and covered by a barrel vault. For the centenary celebration in 1959, Leonard Gyllenborg created a large mosaic work on the north wall.
