Västra Fågelviks kyrka is a well-preserved neoclassical church dating from 1859, notable for its unusual north-south orientation. Located in Värmland, it has become known as a popular venue for music thanks to its fine acoustics, and it replaced an earlier wooden church on the site.

The present stone church was built between 1856 and 1859 to designs by the architect Albert Törnqvist, working for the Överintendentsämbetet, the national office responsible for public buildings. It replaced an older wooden church, which was probably medieval in origin, though the exact location of that earlier building is not known with certainty.

The church consists of a rectangular nave with an extended chancel to the south, a sacristy attached to the east side of the nave, and a tower at the north gable. This layout, combined with the church's north-south alignment rather than the more usual east-west orientation, makes it a distinctive example among Swedish parish churches. The building is considered well preserved both outside and in.

The white-plastered exterior walls are topped with a profiled cornice and pierced by round-arched doorways and windows, giving the building a restrained neoclassical character typical of the mid-nineteenth century. Inside, the nave is covered by a hipped wooden ceiling structure known as a tredingstak. The pulpit and altarpiece both date from the same period as the church itself.

Among the furnishings are several older objects that predate the current building by many centuries: a font from the twelfth century with a wooden lid said to be a rare medieval survival, a medieval crucifix, and a church bell from the thirteenth century dedicated to the Virgin Mary. These pieces presumably came from the earlier wooden church.

The church underwent thorough restoration in 1994–95, and further work, including repainting of the windows, has taken place since. It continues to be valued as a setting for music, said to have good acoustics and instruments including an organ and a grand piano.
