Uddevalla kyrka is located in the centre of the town, just east of Kungstorget. The church gained its current appearance after the town fire of 1806, which destroyed the previous church.

On the remains of the foundation walls, a new church was built in the Neoclassical style. The bell tower was completed in 1751, but like the church itself, it was rebuilt after the fire. In 1833, the bell tower was consecrated in its current form. The tower houses three bells and a carillon.

Adjoining Uddevalla kyrka are the Mikaelskapellet (Michael Chapel) and S:t Mikaelsgården, which include a café, a parish hall and meeting rooms.

The church seats around 400 people.
