Tutaryd is a small village of around 200 people in Kronoberg, but its wooden church remains a popular destination for weddings, christenings and quiet visits. Tutaryds kyrka has a long history on this site and today serves an active parish community.

The present timber church, built in a broadly baroque style, dates from the end of the 17th century and was consecrated in 1694, making it the third church known to have stood on this spot. Tradition holds that the earliest church here may have been a stave church as far back as the 11th century, and timbers from one of the earlier buildings are said to survive in the floor of the chancel. The church was also counted among a small number of recognised 'offering churches' within the old diocese of Växjö, places traditionally associated with votive gifts.

The building has a nave with a narrower, lower chancel to the east, a sacristy beside the chancel, and a porch at the west end housing the main entrance; this porch was originally on the south wall before being moved to the west gable around 1860. The bells hang separately in a freestanding bell tower rather than in the church itself. Inside, the hall-church interior has flat wooden ceilings in both nave and chancel, with walls lined in white-painted oak panelling.

Several furnishings are attributed to named craftsmen. The pulpit was made in 1697 by the woodcarver Johan Mentzgefwer, who is also thought to have carved the font. The altarpiece, dating from around 1700, is attributed to the sculptor Torbern Röding, who is believed to have carved the angel figure now mounted on the north wall; two additional sculptures were added to the altarpiece in 1966. The organ gallery is decorated with painted images of the apostles by Hans Brachwagen.

The church has had several organs over the centuries, the earliest recorded in the 1750s, with later instruments installed in the 19th and 20th centuries and the current organ dating from 1989. These successive rebuildings reflect the ordinary, continuous life of a small rural parish rather than any single dramatic event.
