Torslanda kyrka stands on Hisingen, in the Torslanda-Björlanda parish of the Church of Sweden in Gothenburg. Its oldest parts probably date from the late 1100s or early 1200s, making it one of the older surviving churches in the diocese of Gothenburg.

Norse-Icelandic sources claim that Bohuslän was Christianised as early as the end of the 900s by Olav Trygvasson, though no churches or Christian monuments survive from that period. Torslanda kyrka itself is first documented in writing in Bishop Eystein's register, in connection with a visitation in 1388.

The church has a rectangular nave with a three-sided chancel to the east, a sacristy, and a porch at the west gable. Remarkably, the roof structure of the nave, made up of fifteen oak trusses, is thought to be the only known surviving medieval timber roof of its kind in Bohuslän, and may date from the time of the church's construction.

The building has been altered many times over the centuries. The present chancel was built in 1780, replacing the medieval chancel and triumphal arch wall, and a wooden barrel vault was added over the whole interior at the same time. A major restoration in 1898 introduced iron pillars and new pews in neo-Gothic style, but a further restoration in 1956 deliberately reversed much of this, uncovering and reinstating the older 17th- and 18th-century colour schemes that still characterise the interior today.

Among the church's furnishings is a font bowl carved in soapstone in the 1200s by the font-maker Thorkillus, decorated with bearded faces and acanthus scrollwork; only the bowl survives from the original font, now set on a granite base added in the late 1800s. A second font, made of wood, dates from 1690. The triumphal crucifix hanging above the entrance to the chancel dates from the mid-1400s and was moved when the medieval chancel was demolished in 1780; it shows similarities to the crucifix in Marstrand church. The altar cabinet is thought to date from the 1400s, and the wooden pulpit from 1627 retains its original hourglass.

Outside, a detached bell tower from 1821 stands on a rocky rise west of the churchyard, housing a bell cast in Stralsund in 1656. The churchyard, established in 1783 and extended in 1977, contains a lime tree thought to be at least 800 years old, standing near the grave of an 18th-century vicar.
