Tolgs kyrka is a well-preserved parish church in Söraby, part of the Diocese of Växjö, built in a historicist mixed style with neoclassical touches. It replaced a medieval church that once stood in Tolgs village, about two kilometres away.

Construction of the present church began in 1879, and it was consecrated in 1881 by then-bishop Johan Andersson. The building stands on a hilltop site, oriented north-south with its tower to the south, some two kilometres from the old village of Tolg where the medieval parish church had previously stood. That earlier church had become too small for the congregation and was demolished once the new building was ready for use.

The church is built of stone in a historicist mixed style. Its rectangular nave ends in a straight chancel wall to the north, behind which lies a three-sided sacristy. The south tower is notable for its Romanesque-inspired sound openings, topped by a steep spire that narrows into a small lantern housing the tower clock, before rising to a slender, pointed spire crowned with a cross-orb. Inside, the nave has a panelled wooden ceiling with visible beams and corbels.

Among the older furnishings is a sandstone font dating from the second half of the twelfth century, decorated with carved mythical-beast reliefs and attributed to the so-called Njudung group of stonemasons. Other notable items include an altar cabinet dated to the 1500s, a medieval sculpture of the Madonna from the 1300s, and a carved and painted triumphal crucifix from the fifteenth century.

The altarpiece was painted in 1880 by the church painter Ludvig Frid; it is a copy of Carl Bloch's well-known altarpiece in Hörup Church in Denmark, depicting Christ as comforter. It is set within a frame of pilasters topped by a rounded pediment. The pulpit, with its sounding board, has a six-sided body decorated with paintings in its panels, and the church retains its enclosed box-pew seating and an organ gallery with a projecting central section.

The church's mechanical organ was built in 1881 by Carl Elfström of Ljungby, later modified in 1967 and restored again in 2006 by Ålems orgelverkstad, reflecting a long history of care for the instrument.
