Tannefors kyrka stands in the Tannefors district of Linköping, at the corner of Augustbergsgatan and Vetegatan. Designed by architects John and Axel Kandell, the church was consecrated on 28 November 1964 and remains a distinctive example of Swedish post-war church architecture.

The site had been reserved for church use as early as 1949, but building work only began in 1963, following an architectural competition held in 1959 that Axel and John Kandell won. The church was consecrated in November 1964 by Bishop Ragnar Askmark, and in 1990 it received special protection under Swedish heritage law as a notable example of the period's architecture.

Built of red-fired brick, the church consists of a tower with a porch, a rectangular nave, a sacristy and a meeting room. Unusually, even the pulpit is built from brick, contributing to the building's overall simplicity and uniformity of material. The altar table has a top of Kolmården marble, matched by a marble font, while the altar cross and candlesticks were forged in silver by Bengt U. Liljedahl.

Two woven wall hangings, the Sun Cross and the Wood Cross, made in a flat-weave technique by the artist Alf Munthe, add colour and texture to the otherwise restrained interior. The church's communion silver and jug were likewise crafted by Liljedahl in collaboration with the architects, and the sanctuary carpet, designed by the Kandells, was made in 1974.

Above the porch rises the bell tower, housing two bells cast in 1963–64 at the Bergholtz foundry in Sigtuna, each bearing a scriptural inscription. The mechanical organ, built in 1964 by A. Magnusson Orgelbyggeri of Gothenburg, has thirteen stops and remains a fitting complement to the church's understated design.

Since 1 January 2022, Tannefors has been its own parish, having previously formed part of S:t Lars parish; the church now serves as the parish church within Linköping Cathedral Pastorate.
