The church's central devotional image is the Throne of Mercy (Nådastolen), found in the vault above the altar. In Albertus Pictor's reinterpretation of the motif, the Father holds the dead Son in his lap so that Christ's arms form a cross. The best-known motif of the Täby paintings, the Chess Game with Death, is found in the western vault. The altar cabinet dates from the 1470s, and its main scene is a Golgotha group. It is flanked by sculptures of Saint Olof and a bishop. Below are four scenes from the Passion story, and in the wings stand the twelve apostles. The reverse sides bear paintings depicting the Last Supper, the Death of Mary, the Coronation of Mary, and the Mass of Saint Gregory.
