Stora Skedvi kyrka stands on a wooded hilltop amid farmland in Skedvi kyrkby, Dalarna, and belongs to Säterbygdens församling within the Diocese of Västerås. Its layered building history and well-preserved medieval fittings make it a rewarding stop for visitors interested in rural Swedish church architecture.

The oldest stone church on this site was a simple hall church of grey rubble stone, probably built during the 13th century. During the late medieval period it was enlarged, vaulted and decorated with wall paintings, and this medieval building forms the nave of today's church. The side aisles were added in the second half of the 17th century, giving the church its present three-aisled form, while the chancel dates from 1735. The plan was completed in 1762–1764 when the west tower was added.

The exterior shows exposed grey stone walls beneath a broken saddle roof, hipped over the chancel, with a tower topped by a small lantern. Inside, the nave is fully vaulted with rib-reinforced star vaults, and octagonal stone piers separate the nave from the side aisles. A west gallery has a curved central section carried on marbled wooden columns.

A major restoration in 1920–1922, led by architect Lars Israel Wahlman, stripped plaster from the exterior stonework and uncovered late medieval paintings on the vaults, which had been hidden beneath later layers. The painter Filip Månsson added further decorative work in the western bay of the nave and in the chancel at this time. A further interior restoration took place in 1991–1992, including rebuilding of the pews and gallery and cleaning of the wall paintings.

Among the church's furnishings is a wooden crucifix by an unidentified maker, dated to the early part of the 15th century's first quarter, and a carved limestone font acquired in 1675. An oak and softwood altar cabinet, thought to come from a workshop in the Mälaren valley region, dates from the second half of the 15th century. The pulpit, made in 1827 by Johan Görsson, who was also responsible for the high altar and pew furnishings, is a notable later addition.

The church has had an organ since at least 1570, making it one of the oldest continuously documented organ traditions among Swedish parish churches, though the instrument itself has been rebuilt and altered repeatedly over the centuries, most substantially in 1838 and again in the 20th century.
