S:t Eskils kyrka stands in central Handen, in Haninge kommun, and serves as the main church of Österhaninge parish. This is a modern building, inaugurated in 1994, and it also houses parish offices and activity spaces.

The present church replaced an earlier chapel on the same site, built in 1937 and enlarged into a church by 1957. It was designed by the architect Janne Feldt and consecrated in 1994, forming part of a wider complex that also contains parish administration.

The building is notable for its striking chancel window, a stained-glass work roughly ten metres high by the Haninge artist Bosse Falk (given in some sources as Bo Falk), often described as a particularly admired feature of the interior. Sources also mention angel-themed windows elsewhere in the worship space.

Several older furnishings were carried over from the previous church: a stone altar, a font made by Gustavsberg AB in 1943, and a wooden crucifix from Oberammergau, said to have been donated to the original chapel in 1937.

The organ history is somewhat layered. A mechanical organ built in 1966 by Åkerman & Lund of Knivsta served the earlier church and was moved into the new building in 1994, before being given in 1999 to the cathedral in Haapsalu, Estonia, a twin town of the parish, where it was later rebuilt and enlarged. Its replacement, the current organ of around 35 to 37 stops (sources differ slightly on the exact number), was built in 1999 by Johannes Menzel Orgelbyggeri of Härnösand, and incorporates some pipework rescued from redundant organs in Uppsala Cathedral and Årsta church hall.
