The chapel was previously situated next to the croft Lötmossen on the Wärmlands Säby estate between Kristinehamn and Mariestad. It was built in 1895 by the Methodists. For many years it was a great joy to the local community. Times changed, the countryside became depopulated, and activity declined until it ceased entirely towards the end of the 20th century. In 2004, the Methodist congregation in Åtorp donated Lötmossen's chapel to the Föreningen Skärgårdskapellet (the Archipelago Chapel Association) in Kristinehamn. With a great deal of voluntary effort and significant contributions from individuals, businesses and Kristinehamn Municipality, the chapel was dismantled, moved, and has now been rebuilt at the parish's summer home in the Kristinehamn archipelago, near the Picasso statue. The dream is that this chapel will become a "window towards heaven", embodying the hope of resurrection, beauty and warmth — that is, a foretaste of paradise already here on earth.
