Skallmeja kyrka is a 19th-century parish church at Skallmeja, in the western part of Skara kommun, Västra Götaland. Despite its relatively modern building, it holds a notable collection of furnishings inherited from its medieval predecessor on the same site.

The present church was built between 1864 and 1868 in an Empire style with Neo-Romanesque detailing, standing on a small hill in the village. It replaced an earlier medieval church recorded in an 1828 survey as having had a tower and sacristy, though little else is known of that earlier building.

The interior has been altered several times since consecration. A 1913 renovation added inner doors and replaced the roof tiles with slate, while the parish's requests to fit an asbestos-cement roof and to return older items to the church were both refused by the building authorities. Around 1947 a new heating system was installed, the interior repainted, and a chancel window blocked to allow rearrangement of the fittings, including moving the altarpiece to the south wall. A more thorough renovation in 1968, led by architect Lars Rune Bengtsson, gave the church its current colour scheme, replaced the font, covered the doors in copper instead of iron sheeting, and altered the sacristy and porch.

Among the surviving medieval furnishings are an early medieval font and a triumphal crucifix depicting Christ as a Man of Sorrows, possibly dating from the early 14th century and thought to be the work of a local craftsman. Eight late-medieval images of saints, discovered in the loft during an inventory in 1918, also survive. A separate medieval wooden Madonna sculpture, of around 1250, and an early 16th-century Italian brocade chasuble associated with the church are now held at the Västergötland Museum rather than in the church itself.

The carved altarpiece with its Golgotha group dates from the 18th century (recorded as 1736), and was restored in 1937. The larger of the two church bells was cast by Eric Näsman in 1725; the smaller bell is undated and of a plain late-medieval or slightly later type. The pneumatic organ was built in 1925 by Nordfors & Co of Lidköping, with a silent façade dating from 1894 by Carl Axel Härngren.
