Silleruds kyrka is Värmland's only centralised church, an unusual octagonal building raised in the 1880s to designs by the architect Emil Langlet. It stands on a hill above Svensbysjön, south of the village of Sillerud, and replaced two earlier churches on a different site nearby.

The present church was preceded by a shingle-clad cruciform wooden church of 1662, itself built on the site of a small medieval timber church that had burned down. Both stood some four kilometres south of today's church, by the lake Östra Silen. From the medieval building a stone font basin survives, thought to date from the 13th century; it is now kept in the current church, alongside a newer font of soapstone made in 1906.

Langlet's design, completed in 1888, gave the church an octagonal plan with a substantial central tower topped by a copper spire, flanked by four smaller towers with dark-painted spires. Built of brick and whitewashed, the exterior mixes styles with mainly Neo-Romanesque detailing, including rows of round-arched windows and rose windows on the gables. Inside, the octagonal shape is barely noticeable, giving the space an almost circular feel, and the timber ceiling is built as a cross vault.

The altarpiece, painted by Wilhelm Dahlbom and depicting Christ on the cross, was completed in 1903 and set within a Neoclassical surround. The pulpit, in a Neoclassical style with its own sounding board, dates from 1887; it was moved from beside the sacristy to its present, lower and freestanding position during renovations of 1956–1958, when the organ was also relocated to a gallery at the rear of the church. Several chandeliers and wall sconces date from the 17th and 18th centuries, evidently brought over from the earlier church.

On the site of the old churches, a bell tower was erected in 1970, and it holds a bell that once hung in the earlier church. About fifteen wrought-iron crosses also remain there, presumably marking earlier graves. The church's organ has an intriguing history: an instrument with four stops was moved here from Karlstad Cathedral as early as 1752, and later organs were built and rebuilt on the same site through the 20th century.
