Silbodals kyrka stands beside the lake Västra Silen near Årjäng in Värmland. Built in 1858-59 in the Neoclassical style, it is unusual for lying north-south rather than the traditional east-west, a legacy of the site chosen for this stone successor to an earlier timber church.

The present stone church replaced a timbered cross-shaped church built in 1644, which stood roughly 200 metres to the southeast. Designed by the architect Carl-Gustaf Blom-Carlsson, the new building was funded through local taxation and voluntary labour by a parish of around 2,350 people, and was consecrated in 1859 by Bishop Johan Anton Millén.

The layout is distinctive: a rectangular nave runs north to south, with the tower at the northern end housing the main entrance, and a narrower, three-sided chancel to the south. The exterior, largely well preserved, is a good example of established mid-19th-century Neoclassicism, with corner pilasters, a heavy console cornice, and a tower crowned by a tall lantern and spire flanked by small corner turrets.

The interior has been altered more than once. A substantial renovation in 1940-41 introduced new heating, a mortuary chamber beneath the chancel, leaded antique glass windows, and rooms built in beneath the organ gallery. At this time the artist Gunnar Torhamn created the altar sculpture of the Good Shepherd and wood relief panels depicting baptism and communion. Later work, around 1998-99, aimed to recreate the church's original white-and-gold colour scheme with imitation marbling and woodgrain detail on the pews and gallery balustrade.dating from the 1600s church, a gilded cross with a crown of thorns, was retained and placed against the east wall, while the older church's doorway surround now frames the sacristy door.

Among the furnishings, the font of soapstone, sited in the west corner of the chancel, is thought to date from the early medieval period, possibly the 12th or 13th century, making it far older than the current building. The pulpit was made in 1859 by the local joiner Per Olsson. Glass angel figures by the artist Inga-Lena Klenell were added to the church during the 1998-99 renovation, while a wooden chandelier and painted angel panels in the rear of the church are said to have come from the earlier 17th-century church, along with a chest dated 1698 kept in the porch.
