The church was built of pine timber in 1690. It was extended eastwards in 1783 with the addition of a three-sided chancel to serve a growing congregation, and a tower was added at the western gable in 1809. A sacristy followed north of the chancel in 1821. A substantial restoration took place in 1930–31, and the well-preserved Baroque-style interior dates largely from this long building history rather than any single campaign.
Among the fittings, the pulpit is in Baroque style and dated to 1691, close to the church's original construction. The altarpiece, painted in 1784 by Nils Åhwall (also recorded as Åvall) of Borås, is a notable later addition. A silver communion chalice made in 1764 by a silversmith from Borås also survives among the church's older furnishings.
The church bells have their own history: an old bell was recast into two smaller ones in 1882. The organ was built in 1896 by Carl Axel Härngren and later rebuilt and reconfigured, in 1950 or 1951 depending on the source, by Tostareds Kyrkorgelfabrik; it now has seven stops across manual and pedal.
Visitors will find a small rural church whose modest exterior conceals a carefully retained set of older fittings, offering a glimpse of parish worship in the Sjuhäradsbygden district over more than three centuries.
