Öja kyrka is a neoclassical parish church east of Alberga, in Öja parish within Eskilstuna municipality, Sweden. Standing on the site of a medieval predecessor, it belongs to Västra Rekarne församling in the Diocese of Strängnäs, and its stately design and Sparre family connections reward a visit.

The present church was built between 1847 and 1849, replacing a much older Romanesque stone church that had stood on the same site since the medieval period. Documentation from 1686 and 1847 allowed historians to trace the building's evolution: a small nave and chancel from around the 1100s, a tower added shortly after, chancel widening and a sacristy in the 1200s, and further enlargements in the 1400s and 1600s, including a porch and burial chapel. A separate eastern burial vault for the Sparre family was added in 1727, possibly designed by the architect Göran Josuæ Adelcrantz.

By the early nineteenth century the old church was judged too cramped for the growing parish, and after several design proposals, builder Abraham Nyström's plan was adopted, later revised by architect Carl-Gustaf Blom-Carlsson. When the old tower was demolished, parishioners reportedly pulled it down themselves with a rope tied to its spire — an event long remembered locally, though as an oral tradition rather than a documented fact. The new church, consecrated on 1 September 1849, retained the 1727 Sparre burial chapel as the sole surviving remnant of the earlier building.

The church's whitewashed, neoclassical exterior features a rectangular nave, a western tower, and an eastern chancel projection flanked by corner pavilions — one housing the sacristy, the other the historic Sparre burial chapel. Round-arched windows, a gently pitched roof, and a tower crowned with a lantern of paired pillars and a gilded orb and cross give the building a restrained, dignified character. Inside, the barrel-vaulted nave leads to a more elaborately decorated chancel with pilasters, niches and a star-patterned vault, along with two plaster reliefs symbolising Law and Gospel.
