Nedre Ulleruds kyrka, near Deje in Värmland, is the third church to stand on this site beside the river. Completed in 1759, it replaced two earlier buildings and retains furnishings, including a font, that trace the site's history back to the 1200s.

Archaeological excavations carried out in 1949 and 1958 uncovered the foundations of a small Romanesque stone church, thought to date from around the mid-13th century, with an apse and a later west tower. Sources differ slightly on when this medieval church was superseded by a larger wooden building: one account suggests the early 17th century, another the mid-17th century. Concerns about the nearby river eroding the churchyard prompted decades of discussion from the 1730s onward about where a new stone church should stand, before construction finally went ahead.

The present church, completed in 1759, was built under the German-born master builder Christian Haller, who had also directed work on Karlstad Cathedral. It has a cross-shaped plan with cut-off inner corners between the transept arms, a three-sided chancel, and an extended sacristy to the east. Its round-arched doorways and windows, cast-iron window frames and mansard roof give the exterior a restrained baroque character typical of its period. The church has no tower; instead, a separate tarred, shingle-clad bell tower stands in the churchyard, dated to either 1742 in one source or built for the present church in the 1750s according to another, and it has reportedly been relocated more than once because of the riverbank's instability.ed to when the wooden church at this site was constructed.

The interior was altered in 1885 and again more substantially in 1920, the latter under the Värmland architect Bror Almquist. During the 1920 restoration the previously undecorated ceiling was painted by the decorative artist Yngve Lundström, and the chancel windows were fitted with larger stained glass than the rest of the church.

Among the church's furnishings, the soapstone font, dating from around the 13th century, is the oldest object and is said to have served all three churches on this site. The altarpiece, carved in baroque style in 1686 according to one source, is notable for an unusual clock face set at its top.

The churchyard contains eighteen forged iron grave crosses shaped as trees of life, associated with local ironworking families from ironworks such as Dömle, Kvarntorp and Mölnbacka, which employed German and Walloon smiths. The oldest of these crosses date from the 18th century.
