Hotagens kyrka, a stone church dating from 1861, stands on the scenic Kyrknäset headland in Jämtland, surrounded by water on three sides, near the shores of Lake Hotagen.

The present church replaced a small timber chapel built on the site in 1795. Construction of the current stone building took place between 1851 and 1861, carried out by master mason Ivar Pålsson and master builder Olof Ersson to designs by the architect Ludvig Hawerman.

The church consists of a nave with a straight-ended chancel to the east and a narrower tower to the west, with a sacristy attached beyond the chancel. The tower is topped by a curved cupola, lantern and spire clad in copper sheeting, crowned with a gilded cross on a globe. The nave and sacristy roof, originally covered in wooden shingles, was replaced with black galvanised sheet metal in 1989.

Inside, the altar screen and pulpit were made in 1861 by Johannes Edler, contemporary with the building's completion. The altarpiece is a later addition, painted in 1951 by Osmo Isaksson. A wooden font from 1922 features marbled grey-white paintwork with gilded leaf ornamentation on its bowl.

The organ was built in 1952 by the Örebro firm E. A. Setterquist & Son Eftr., with fourteen stops across two manuals and pedal.
