By the square in Torvalla Centrum stands a brick-red church that was inaugurated in 1988. The church tower with its shiny roof rises towards the sky, and at the very top sits a watchful ptarmigan on its ski. Inside, the church is richly decorated with art, not least through beautiful art windows.
In 2001 the church received an award as Östersund's Most Beloved Contemporary Building.
Over the years the church has become well-loved by many. The church's work is characterised by participation, with many residents of Torvalla taking part and giving of themselves. The church has active work among children and the elderly as well as quiet services and pastoral conversations. The foundation of the church's life is faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God.
Heliga Ljusets kyrka is a Cooperation Church between the Church of Sweden and EFS (Evangeliska Fosterlandsstiftelsen).
The church belongs to Brunflo parish.
