Hamrånge kyrka is a striking stone church built between 1847 and 1851 on a hill in Bergby, Gästrikland, replacing a ruined medieval church whose stones were reused in the new building. Its pale red-washed walls make it a landmark visible from afar.

Standing on a north-south axis, the church succeeded a medieval stone building that once stood nearby, of which little now remains beyond the old churchyard and its low dry-stone wall. Cracks and a need for more space led to the decision in 1843 to replace the old church, and by 1854 the new building was consecrated. It was designed by county architect Carl Axel Setterberg together with Johan Fredrik Åbom, in a historicising mixed style with a three-aisled interior, a tunnel-vaulted nave carried on orthogonal pillars, and a tower crowned by a lantern and spire.

Several objects survive from the earlier medieval church and give the interior a much older layer of history. A stone font with a drainage hole dates from the 1200s, and there are two triumphal crucifixes: one from the late 1200s carved in oak, and a larger one from the late 1400s carved in birch. Wooden figures of Mary and the Archangel Michael, remnants of a late medieval altar cabinet, also survive. The current altarpiece, painted in 1869 by Albert Blombergsson, is a copy of Fredric Westin's depiction of the Resurrection in Kungsholm Church, Stockholm.

The church's appearance has changed over time. A 1934 restoration altered the colour scheme and interior layout, moving the pulpit and enlarging the organ loft while reducing seating. More recent work has reportedly reversed some of these changes, returning the pulpit to its original high position beside the choir and restoring an older, paler blue tone to the ceiling. The unusual scrubbed wooden floor with its broad planks is said to remain from before these alterations.

The church has also faced practical challenges: its large volume made it costly to heat in winter, reportedly forcing services into the burial chapel for part of the year. Recent investment in geothermal heating, triple-glazed windows and improved insulation, along with new kitchen and toilet facilities, appears aimed at making the building more usable year-round, alongside pews removed to create space for communal activities such as coffee gatherings and children's events. A long red carpet now runs the length of the nave.

The organ dates from the same period as the current church, built by Jonas Wengström of Ovanåker, and has been rebuilt and renovated several times during the twentieth century. A smaller choir organ was added in 1995.
