Hällefors kyrka, in the mining town of Hällefors in Örebro county, is the parish church of Hällefors-Hjulsjö and part of the Diocese of Västerås. Built of timber in the mid-seventeenth century, it later grew into a distinctive red, shingle-clad cross-shaped church.

The church began life as a modest wooden chapel, erected in 1644–1645 with a single nave. Almost a century later, in the 1740s, the building was enlarged and elevated to full church status, with the addition of two transepts to the north and south, giving it the cruciform plan seen today. The exterior is notable for its rounded-arch windows, three-sided transept ends and a small ridge turret at the crossing.

Inside, the ceiling carries painted decoration depicting the symbols of the four evangelists. The pulpit dates from 1662 and is decorated with painted figures of the evangelists; these paintings were rediscovered and restored during renovation work in 1929, when a baptismal chapel was also created in the north transept and a new font installed.

The church interior has been reworked more than once. In 1880 the walls were panelled and painted in oils, and the altar, pulpit and gallery were painted and gilded. A further remodelling in 1897–1898, following designs by the architect Agi Lindgren, altered the chancel and introduced a new altarpiece and altar rail, along with decorative painting on the chancel ceiling. The altarpiece itself, added in 1898, is the work of Gottfrid Kallstenius and is a copy of Danish painter Carl Bloch's Christus Consolator, the original of which hangs in Hörup Church in Skåne.

The church has had a succession of organs. An early instrument was built in 1789 by the farmer and amateur organ-builder Johan Sundström, later rebuilt in 1859–1860. This organ was eventually sold and relocated to Stenkyrka church on Gotland when a new 17-stop organ by Salomon Molander & Co of Gothenburg was installed in 1880. That instrument was later enlarged to 26 stops in 1945 by E. A. Setterquist & Son of Örebro, giving the church the pneumatic-action organ associated with its later twentieth-century worship.
