Håkantorps kyrka is a rural parish church in Håkantorp, in the Falbygden district of Västra Götaland, part of Hornborga parish. Surrounded by grazing cattle and horses close to the churchyard wall, with the Hornborga stream running alongside, it remains closely tied to the farming landscape around it.

The present neoclassical stone church was built in 1842, replacing an earlier medieval stone church on the same site that had fallen into disrepair. Little or nothing survives of that older building, though the proportions of the current church suggest it may stand on the same foundations.

Over the following century the church underwent numerous modest interior alterations, partly to address recurring damp problems. In the mid-1920s the stove was moved to the north side and a new chimney built, which led to the pulpit being repositioned and two front pews removed. Further redecoration followed in the 1930s, with the ceiling repainted and the walls limewashed and oiled.

In the 1950s the space beneath the gallery was reorganised, the pulpit renovated, and a new stone altar installed in place of the earlier wooden one; a slightly different account dates the polished limestone altar to 1958. Later twentieth-century works included new windows, a re-tiled roof over the nave, copper cladding replacing tarred felt on the tower roof, and re-rendering of the exterior walls with lime plaster. Damp beneath the choir's wooden floor led to it being replaced with limestone flooring in the late 1990s.

A further interior restoration around 2001 renewed the ceiling using reused, hand-forged nails, and uncovered older paintwork beneath later layers, allowing some of the church's earlier colour scheme to be partially restored.

Among the church's furnishings is a seventeenth-century pulpit and a font of medieval origin, said to have once served as a flowerpot at a nearby estate before being brought into the church. The altarpiece depicts Peter sinking beneath the waves, held up by Christ, and the chancel floor contains a seventeenth-century memorial slab to a local family.
