Fors kapell stands on a ridge between Malungsfors school and the Västerdalälven river in Dalarna. Built in the 1930s for the local community, this small church combines the clean lines of Swedish functionalism with older traditions of church architecture.

Before the chapel existed, services and confirmation classes for the people of Malungsfors were held in the local school and a meeting house, following the appointment of a curate to the area in 1918. A churchyard was consecrated in 1922, and a parsonage for the curate was built nearby in 1928.

Plans to build a proper church were delayed by the difficult economic conditions of the 1930s. That the project went ahead regardless owed much to the efforts of the curate at the time, Oskar Leonard Sjödin, along with practical help and donations from local residents.

The chapel and its separate bell tower were built in 1935–36 to designs by county architect Magnus Dahlander. The building has a brick structure with whitewashed exterior walls, a straight-ended chancel with an attached sacristy to the east, a matching extension to the west, and a porch to the north. Its design blends influences from national romanticism and historicism with the newer functionalist ideas then emerging, one example being the assembly hall attached to the church room, positioned so the two spaces could be combined when needed.//
