Edsvära kyrka is a parish church standing on a ridge in the farmland around the village of Edsvära, in Vara Municipality, Västra Götaland County. It belongs to Varabygdens församling within the Diocese of Skara, and stands on a site with a long history of Christian worship.

An earlier stone church, thought to date from the medieval period, once stood on this site. It was altered and enlarged during the latter half of the eighteenth century before being replaced entirely. The present building was erected in 1859 to designs by the architect Johan Adolf Hawerman, who also designed the churches at Norra Vånga and Skarstad.

The church follows a simple, symmetrical plan: a nave with a straight-ended chancel of the same width to the east, and a smaller, lower sacristy behind it. At the western end rises a slender tower topped by a distinctive lantern with a projecting viewing balcony, a feature that gives the building its most memorable silhouette. Windows and doorways throughout are fitted with round-arched openings, arranged with careful symmetry.

A substantial restoration took place in 1953 under the architect Adolf Niklasson, who also worked on Levene kyrka. Despite this work, much of the nineteenth-century interior furnishings have been retained. The church holds two bells of medieval origin, both uninscribed; local tradition names them Maja-Lena and Klara, though this cannot be verified. The organ, built in 1959 by Nordfors & Co of Lidköping, incorporates the surviving sounding façade from an earlier 1860 instrument by Johan Nikolaus Söderling of Gothenburg.

The surrounding churchyard has features of note. Its oldest dated memorial, topped with a cross, commemorates a senior estate steward who died in 1854. Unusually for a Swedish churchyard, no memorials to parish clergy are recorded here, though other local dignitaries and a wide range of occupations—traders, rural postmen, a police officer, soldiers and, above all, farmers from this fertile district—are represented. Women were generally only granted their own memorial if they had independent means; two such graves, from the nineteenth century, survive as examples.

The wider area contains ancient remains, including a burial field. A stone cist beside a nearby burial mound was damaged during the construction of the current church, though finds recovered from it—pottery, flint daggers and amber beads—point to prehistoric activity long before the church's founding. A runestone known as the Härlingstorp Stone, its inscription now largely illegible, is believed to date from the eleventh century.
