The chapel was consecrated in September 1978 by the Bishop of Härnösand, Bertil Werkström. It stands as a simple, modern building serving the local mountain community.
A free-standing bell tower was added to the site, though sources differ on the exact year: one account gives 1980, while another states the tower was erected on 3 June 1996.
The bell itself carries two inscriptions, one on each side. One evokes the sound of the bell calling across mountain and valley, inviting people to a clear source likened to the nearby Ljusnan river; the other is a paraphrase of the opening of Psalm 23, "The Lord is my shepherd."
A few hundred metres from the chapel lies Fjällkyrkogården, a burial ground begun in 1948, which forms part of the wider setting for visitors exploring this quiet corner of Härjedalen.
