Almesåkra kyrka is a parish church in Almesåkra, in the Diocese of Växjö. The current stone building dates from 1867–1870, but it stands on a site that has held earlier churches for many centuries.

Sources agree that a church may have stood here as early as the 1200s, though this cannot be confirmed with certainty. That medieval building was replaced in the 1500s, and after a fire in the 1600s a small timber church was built, consecrated in 1694. It was reportedly a modest structure, only around 8 metres wide and 12 metres long, with a separate bell tower standing apart from the church itself.

By the 1800s the old wooden church had become too small for the growing congregation, and discussions about building a larger replacement dragged on for some thirty years before work finally began in earnest in 1867. Plans had in fact been drawn up decades earlier, in 1840, by the architect Johan Adolf Hawerman. The new church, built in a historicising mixed style from grey stone with roughcast rendered walls, was consecrated in 1870 by Bishop H.G. Hultman. It has a rectangular nave with a straight-ended chancel and a sacristy behind, and a tower topped with a tall, pointed spire.

Inside, the walls carry a marbled decorative finish over lime plaster. Among the furnishings are a font attributed to the so-called Njudung Masters, dated to the later 1100s, a depiction of the Madonna dated to the 1200s, and a sculpture of a saint from the 1400s. The altarpiece depicts the Last Supper, and the pulpit and open pews are typical of their period. The organ loft dates from when the current church was built.

A less obvious survival is kept in the tower chamber: fragments of painted decoration, dated to 1760, once thought to have adorned the ceiling and walls of the earlier wooden church.

The church's mechanical organ was built in 1868–69 by Erik Adolf Setterquist of Örebro and inaugurated in November 1869. It underwent extensive restoration in 2010, returning it closer to its original condition after some earlier, less successful alterations.
