The church, apart from its later sacristy, is essentially a Romanesque building dating from the first half of the 1200s. It has a three-aisled nave with an apsidal chancel to the east and a tower to the west, built from carefully squared limestone blocks, while the tower itself is constructed of roughly hewn stone. A sacristy was added on the north side of the chancel in the 1700s.
The exterior shows a fairly uniform limestone facade with a round-arched frieze beneath the eaves, while the tower and sacristy are rendered and limewashed. The tower is crowned by an octagonal spire and pierced by round-arched sound openings with small colonnettes. Window openings are relatively small and vary in shape, reflecting later alterations: a round window in the tower's south wall is original, while a tracery window in the south of the nave probably dates from remodelling in the early 1300s. Of particular interest is the nave's large doorway, decorated with capital sculpture attributed to the stonemason known as "Calcarius".
Inside, the nave's nine groin vaults rest on four massive pillars with rounded corner shafts. The pointed triumphal arch was reshaped during the fourteenth-century modernisation, and small quatrefoil windows can be seen in niches on either side of it. Wall paintings in the nave, attributed to the Passion Master or his workshop, date from the fifteenth century, while chequerwork decoration on the triumphal arch is thought to be from around 1300; acanthus scrollwork in the vault of the apse was added in the seventeenth century.
The church's only surviving medieval fitting is a processional crucifix from the fourteenth century. The altarpiece was painted in 1662 by Johan Bartsch, and a sandstone font of the same year stands nearby. A sandstone memorial tablet on the north wall of the chancel, commemorating a priest and his family, dates from 1682.
The church was restored in 1902–1903 and again in 1956–1957 under the architect Nils Arne Rosén. Its mechanical organ was built in 1892 by Åkerman & Lund and renovated in 1957.
