Båraryds kyrka is a spacious, light-filled church in the Gislaved area of Jönköping County, serving as the largest church in its parish. It replaced an earlier medieval building and remains a focal point for the local community's worship and gatherings.

The present church was built between 1880 and 1882 to designs by architect Albert Törnqvist, replacing a medieval stone church that had stood on the site, reportedly since the 1200s, though a beam bearing the date 1107 was found when the old building was demolished, hinting at an even earlier structure. Bishop Johan Andersson consecrated the new church in 1882. Before construction began, there had been lengthy discussions about building a shared church with the neighbouring Våthult parish, though this did not proceed. The builder, A. Larsson of Sandshult, was paid 9,000 kronor and given free accommodation during the works, with many parishioners contributing labour and transport.

The church is built in a national romantic style with neo-Romanesque touches, rendered and whitewashed, comprising a rectangular nave with a five-sided sacristy behind the chancel wall. Its tower has paired round-arched openings and a tall spire topped with a cross; a clock was added to the tower in 1927. Inside, the bright, airy hall-church interior is covered by a wooden barrel vault. A major renovation was carried out in 1968 under architect Per Rudenstam of Jönköping.

Most medieval furnishings from the older church, including its original pulpit, were lost, but the sandstone font, dated to the 1200s, survives from the earlier building. Since christenings no longer involve full immersion, a brass baptismal basin from 1946 is used instead. A painting beneath the gallery depicts the appearance of the old medieval church.

The altarpiece, showing the deposition of Christ from the cross, was painted by Ingeborg Westfelt-Eggertz and is set within a pilastered surround with a triangular pediment. The pulpit, contemporary with the church building, has a five-sided body decorated with gilded panels and retains its sounding board. The organ gallery has a curved central section, and the mechanical organ, built in 1882 by Carl Elfström of Ljungby with a neo-Gothic case, was renovated in 1982; a smaller choir organ was added in 2000.
