Borlunda kyrka is a nineteenth-century parish church in Skåne, built on raised ground within a churchyard lined with tall clipped yew hedges. Its striking patterned brickwork and unusual history of near-demolition make it one of the more distinctive village churches in the area.

The church was built between 1866 and 1868 to serve the neighbouring parishes of Borlunda and Skeglinge, whose own old churches were in poor repair and were subsequently demolished. It was consecrated in November 1868 by Bishop Vilhelm Flensburg, to designs by the Danish architect Ferdinand Meldahl, who drew on his travels in Europe and the Near East; the church in Verona dedicated to San Fermo is thought to have been an influence. The plan follows a Latin cross with unusually wide transepts, and an asymmetrically placed west tower houses the bells.

The building was constructed from hand-struck yellow brick laid in decorative patterns, a material that proved less durable than hoped. Moisture penetration and frost damage eventually led to serious structural concerns, and in 1992 the church was closed due to the risk of collapse. Its future was debated for almost a decade before a thorough restoration allowed the church to reopen in December 2001.

Meldahl is thought to have designed much of the original interior fittings, while the altar was the work of the Malmö city architect William Klein. A notable feature is the organ case from a 1928 rebuild, designed by cathedral architect Theodor Wåhlin in the form of a Gothic tracery window, its four panels filled with organ pipes rather than glass.

When Skeglinge's old church was demolished, its medieval bell, cast in the 1400s, was for a time kept at Borlunda before being returned to a newly built bell tower on the old Skeglinge church site in 1961. A separate bronze bell, cast in Malmö in 1728, was later moved from a bell tower at the site of the former Borlunda church into the new church's south transept, linking the present building to its predecessors.
