The present church was built in 1966 to designs by the architect Tore Virke, giving it a mid-twentieth-century character quite different from the older timber and stone churches typical of the region. It was constructed of brick and sits in a woodland burial ground established some two decades earlier, a setting that gives the churchyard a quiet, forested character.
Although the building itself is modern, several furnishings were brought over from the earlier Åsarne church, most notably the pulpit. It was carved in 1759 by Jonas Granberg, though interestingly it was not originally made for Åsarne at all but for Bergs kyrka, before later finding its way here.
Other notable fittings include a font shaped like a ship, made by Erik Sand, and two church bells cast at the Bergholtz bell foundry in Sigtuna. Together these objects link the new building to older traditions of craftsmanship even as its architecture marks a clear break with the past.
